How to convert TIFF to PDF

  1. Add your TIFF files

Drag the files onto the upload area or browse for them. Each file becomes one page, and you can add up to 50 of them.

  2. Choose the page size and order

Pick A4, Letter or the image size, set the orientation and margin, and arrange the pages with the arrow buttons.

  3. Create the PDF and download it

Press “Create PDF”. Each TIFF file is uploaded to our servers to be read and deleted within 30 minutes at the latest; the pages are then put together into one PDF that you download with one click.

What is preserved?

Kept

  • The picture: each TIFF file is read on our servers and placed in the PDF at its full resolution
  • The correct photo orientation (EXIF orientation is applied)
  • The picture's proportions

Changed

  • Each image becomes one page. On A4 and Letter it is scaled to fit the page without stretching and centered; in the image-size option the page matches the picture
  • When the picture's shape differs from the page, empty space remains around it

Not carried over

  • EXIF, location and camera data are not added to the PDF
  • Transparency: transparent areas show the white page
  • Selectable text: text inside a picture stays a picture, there is no text recognition

When to use it

Turn scanner output into a document

Many scanners and document cameras save each page as a TIFF. Combining them into one PDF gives a single document for e-mail, archives or e-filing.

Deliver print images as a proof

Send a client one PDF that shows all the TIFF artwork in order, instead of several heavy files they may not be able to open.

Limitations to know

  • Each TIFF file is uploaded to our servers to be read and deleted within 30 minutes at the latest.
  • Up to 50 images in one PDF and up to 50 MB per image.
  • Very large pictures depend on your device memory and may fail to be added; reduce their size first with the resize tool.
  • In the image-size option a page can be at most 200 inches (14,400 points) on a side; larger pictures are scaled down.

About the formats

What is TIFF?

TIFF is a high-quality image format used for scans, professional photography and printing. It typically stores pixels without lossy compression and can hold high color depth and several pages in one file, so files are very large. Web browsers do not display TIFF, so it is converted to JPG or PNG for sharing and publishing.

What is PDF?

PDF is a document format that looks the same on every device and in print. A page can contain text, vector graphics and images, and a file can have many pages. Converting PDF pages to images turns each page into a flat picture you can place on a website or in a design, while converting images to PDF packs pictures into pages of one document.

Frequently asked questions

Why use PDF instead of sending TIFF files?

PDF opens in every browser and on every phone, keeps pages in a fixed order and is one file instead of many. TIFF often needs special software, especially on phones.

Will scanned text be searchable in the PDF?

No. The pages are images; no text recognition is done. You can run OCR on the PDF later in a dedicated program if you need searchable text.

Which page size should I use for scans?

Choose the paper size that was scanned, A4 or Letter, so the pages print at their real size. Image size keeps the page exactly as large as the scan.

Is converting TIFF to PDF free?

Yes, completely free. There is no account, subscription or watermark; just add your files and convert them.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

Yes. This conversion runs on our servers, so your file is uploaded over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, converted there and permanently deleted within 30 minutes at the latest. It is stored under a random code instead of its name, and processing is fully automated. EXIF and location data are not added to the output.
