TIFF to PNG Converter

To convert TIFF to PNG, add your TIFF files and press Convert with PNG selected. PNG is also lossless, so the pixels of your scan or image stay exactly as they are, but PNG opens in every browser and program. Your files are uploaded to our servers over a secure connection, converted there and deleted within 30 minutes at the latest.

  • Free, no sign-up
  • Uploaded securely, deleted within 30 minutes
  • Up to 50 MB per file

PNG is a lossless format, so there is no quality setting. File size depends on the resolution and the picture itself.

For multi-page TIFF files only the first page is converted.

Your file is uploaded to our servers over a secure (HTTPS) connection, converted there and permanently deleted within 30 minutes at the latest. Files are converted one after another.

How to convert TIFF to PNG

  1. Add your TIFF files

Drag the files onto the upload area or browse for them; you can add several files and they are converted one after another.

  2. Keep PNG as the output

PNG is already selected. PNG has no quality setting.

  3. Convert and download

Press “Convert”. Each file is uploaded to our servers, converted and deleted within 30 minutes at the latest; download the results one by one or as a ZIP.

What is preserved?

Kept

  • The image resolution (pixel dimensions)
  • The correct photo orientation (EXIF orientation is applied)
  • Colors (adapted to sRGB)
  • Transparency (alpha channel)

Not carried over

  • EXIF, location and camera data: left out of the output for privacy
  • Pages after the first in a multi-page TIFF: only the first page is converted

When to use it

Archive scans in a common format

PNG keeps every pixel of a scan like TIFF does, yet every browser, operating system and editor opens it, which makes it a friendlier format for long-term access.

Graphics with transparency

Logos or artwork exported as TIFF with a transparent background keep their transparency in PNG and can be placed on web pages directly.

Limitations to know

  • Up to 50 MB and about 100 megapixels per file.
  • The file is uploaded to our servers and deleted within 30 minutes at the latest; several files are converted one after another.

About the formats

What is TIFF?

TIFF is a high-quality image format used for scans, professional photography and printing. It typically stores pixels without lossy compression and can hold high color depth and several pages in one file, so files are very large. Web browsers do not display TIFF, so it is converted to JPG or PNG for sharing and publishing.

What is PNG?

PNG stores pixels without loss and supports full transparency, which makes it a good fit for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges or text. The price is size: photographs saved as PNG are usually much larger than the same picture as JPG or WebP. PNG does not store animations.

Frequently asked questions

Is anything lost when converting TIFF to PNG?

Pixel detail is kept without loss. What changes is the container: PNG uses 8 bits per color channel and the sRGB profile, so TIFF files with 16-bit color or a special color space are reduced to those.

Will the PNG be smaller than the TIFF?

Often yes, because PNG compresses well and uncompressed TIFF does not. A TIFF that is already compressed can end up about the same size.

Does it work for multi-page TIFF files?

Only the first page becomes a PNG. Split multi-page files into single pages beforehand if you need every page.

Is converting TIFF to PNG free?

Yes, completely free. There is no account, subscription or watermark; just add your files and convert them.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

Yes. This conversion runs on our servers, so your file is uploaded over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, converted there and permanently deleted within 30 minutes at the latest. It is stored under a random code instead of its name, and processing is fully automated. EXIF and location data are not added to the output.
