Convert Word (DOCX) to HTML

To convert Word to HTML, upload your .docx file and choose HTML as the target. The result is a single UTF-8 .html file: images are embedded as base64 instead of sitting in a separate folder, so the page opens offline in any browser. Headings, lists, tables and links are kept, while page margins and page breaks have no HTML equivalent and are dropped.

What is preserved?

Kept

  • Heading and paragraph structure
  • Bulleted and numbered lists, and tables
  • Hyperlinks
  • Images (embedded as base64)

Changed

  • Formatting may be written as inline styles and font tags
  • The document language attribute is set to lang="tr"

Not carried over

  • Page size, margins and page breaks

When to use it

Publishing a document on a website

Turn an announcement, guide or article written in Word into HTML and paste its body into your site or your CMS code view, without rebuilding the headings and lists by hand.

Sharing one file that opens anywhere

Since images live inside the file, you send a single .html that anyone can view in a browser, offline and without office software. It is also a simple way to archive a readable copy.

Limitations to know

  • Embedded images can make the HTML file large.
  • The markup renders correctly but is not as minimal as hand-written HTML; change the lang attribute if your document is not Turkish.

About the formats

What is Word (DOCX)?

DOCX is the default document format of Microsoft Word since Word 2007. It is based on the Office Open XML standard: the file is a ZIP package that stores text, styles, tables, images, headers and footers as separate XML parts. DOCX files open and edit in Word, LibreOffice Writer, Google Docs and Pages, which makes it the most common format for exchanging editable documents. When a fixed layout matters, DOCX files are usually converted to PDF.

What is HTML?

HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the markup language web pages are written in. Headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, links and images are defined with tags, and CSS controls how they look. An .html file opens in any web browser without extra software and reflows to the screen width instead of using fixed pages. External stylesheets, web fonts and remote images are separate resources and do not travel with the file unless they are embedded in it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paste the HTML into WordPress or another CMS?

Yes, paste the contents of the body into your CMS's code or HTML view. Inline styles keep the formatting but may override your theme. Because images are embedded as base64 they can make the page heavy, so for a live site it is better to upload the images to your media library and link them.

Why is the HTML file so large?

Every image is written into the HTML as base64 text instead of being saved as a separate file. That keeps the page self-contained and portable, but base64 adds roughly a third to each image's size. Documents without images produce small HTML files.

How do I get cleaner markup?

If the content is headed for a documentation site, GitHub or a notes app, try Word to Markdown instead. Markdown drops fonts and colors and keeps only headings, lists, tables and links, which gives you a much smaller and more readable file.

Is converting Word to HTML free?

Yes, completely free. There is no account, subscription or watermark — just upload your file and convert it.

Is my file safe and when is it deleted?

Your file is transferred over HTTPS and stored on our server under a random code. The upload and the output are permanently deleted within 30 minutes, and the download link only works for whoever holds your unique code.
