Convert RTF to UDF (UYAP)
To convert RTF to UDF, upload your .rtf file and choose UDF as the target. Petitions and drafts written in WordPad or exported as RTF by law-office software can be turned into the .udf format of UYAP Document Editor, Turkey's judicial document editor, without Word. The file is converted to DOCX with LibreOffice and then to UDF, keeping paragraphs, styles, tables and images.

When to use it
Filing a WordPad petition through UYAP
Lawyers and legal staff without Microsoft Word can draft a petition in WordPad, save it as RTF and convert it straight to UDF, with no need to paste the text into UYAP Document Editor by hand.
Using RTF output from case-management software
Law-office and case-management programs often generate notices and account statements as RTF. Converting them to UDF brings those documents directly into the UYAP workflow for review and signing.
Limitations to know
- The UDF file is not e-signed; sign it with your e-signature in UYAP before official filing.
- Headers, footers and footnotes may not carry over fully; review the file in UYAP Document Editor.
About the formats
What is RTF?
RTF (Rich Text Format) is a document format published by Microsoft in 1987 that stores formatted text as plain text with control codes. It can carry bold and italic text, fonts, alignment, lists, tables and images. Its main strength is compatibility: RTF opens in WordPad on Windows, TextEdit on macOS, LibreOffice and Word. It is less capable than DOCX for complex layouts, and its appearance can vary between the programs that open it.
What is UDF?
UDF is the document format of UYAP (Ulusal Yargı Ağı Bilişim Sistemi), Turkey's national judiciary information system. Lawyers, courts and enforcement offices create petitions, minutes and rulings in this format with the UYAP Document Editor. A .udf file is a ZIP package whose content.xml holds the full text, paragraph and character styles, tables and embedded images. It is unrelated to Universal Disk Format, and Word or PDF readers cannot open it directly.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert RTF to UDF without Microsoft Word installed?
Yes. The whole conversion runs on our server, so you don't need Word or any office suite on your computer. The RTF is read by LibreOffice and converted to an intermediate DOCX, then our UDF writer turns that into UYAP's UDF structure. You only upload the file and download the result.
Can I e-sign the converted UDF?
The converter does not sign documents; the .udf file you download is unsigned. Open it in UYAP Document Editor, check it and sign it with your e-signature before filing. If you convert a document that was already signed, the signature will not validate on the new file.
Can I convert the UDF back to RTF later?
Yes, with our UDF to RTF converter. Reading UDF files supports paragraphs, tables and images, so you can take a document downloaded from UYAP, edit it in WordPad or another word processor, and convert it to UDF again when needed.
Is converting RTF to UDF free?
Yes, completely free. There is no account, subscription or watermark — just upload your file and convert it.
Is my file safe and when is it deleted?
Your file is transferred over HTTPS and stored on our server under a random code. The upload and the output are permanently deleted within 30 minutes, and the download link only works for whoever holds your unique code.
