SVG to WebP Converter

To convert SVG to WebP, add the SVG files, enter an output width if you want a specific size, and press Convert. Your browser draws the vector graphic as pixels and saves it as WebP at 80% quality by default, with transparent areas kept. Leaving the width empty uses the SVG's own dimensions. The file stays on your device throughout.

  • Free, no sign-up
  • Your file never leaves your device
  • Up to 50 MB per file
Output format

Your file never leaves your device; images are processed in your browser. EXIF and location data are not added to the output.

How to convert SVG to WebP

  1. Add your SVG files

Drag the images onto the upload area or browse for them; you can add several files at once.

  2. Keep WebP as the output

WebP is already selected. For formats with a quality setting the slider starts at a default that suits the format (JPG 90%, WebP 80%, AVIF 60%); lower it if you want a smaller file.

  3. Convert and download

Press “Convert”. Every file is processed in your browser, and you can download the results one by one or as a ZIP.

What is preserved?

Kept

  • The image resolution (pixel dimensions)
  • The correct photo orientation (EXIF orientation is applied)
  • Colors (adapted to sRGB)
  • Transparency (alpha channel)

Changed

  • WebP is a lossy format: lower quality means a smaller file but less fine detail
  • The lossless source is recompressed at the quality you choose, so pixel values are no longer identical
  • The vector drawing becomes pixels; the output is fixed at the chosen size

Not carried over

  • EXIF, location and camera data: left out of the output for privacy
  • Infinite scalability: the raster output turns pixelated when enlarged

When to use it

Upload a logo where SVG is blocked

Many website builders and marketplaces block SVG uploads for security reasons. A WebP copy with a transparent background is accepted and still small.

Fixed-size thumbnails from vector icons

When an app or store listing needs icons at an exact pixel width, rendering the SVG to WebP at that width gives a light, ready-to-use image.

Limitations to know

  • External images and fonts referenced by the SVG are not loaded; text may be drawn with a system font.
  • Up to 50 MB per file; the output can be at most 16,384 pixels on one side.
  • On iPhone and iPad, images above roughly 16 megapixels may not be processed because of a browser limit.

About the formats

What is SVG?

SVG describes an image with shapes, paths and text in XML instead of pixels, so it stays sharp at any size. It is ideal for logos, icons and illustrations. When a program or website needs a pixel image, an SVG is rendered into a raster format such as PNG at a chosen size.

What is WebP?

WebP is an image format developed by Google for the web. It supports both lossy and lossless compression, transparency and animation, and typically produces smaller files than JPG or PNG at similar quality. All current browsers display WebP, though some older editors and print services cannot open it.

Frequently asked questions

Is the WebP still a vector image?

No. It is a pixel image at the width you chose. Keep the SVG as your master file and render new WebP copies whenever you need another size.

What quality works for flat SVG graphics?

Logos and icons with sharp edges benefit from 90% or higher, which avoids soft fringes. The file usually stays small because flat colors compress well.

Are SVG animations converted?

No. The SVG is drawn once as a still picture; any animation or interactive script inside it is not carried over.

Is converting SVG to WebP free?

Yes, completely free. There is no account, subscription or watermark; just add your files and convert them.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Images are processed in your browser and never leave your device, so the waiting time depends on the file size and your device. EXIF and location data are not added to the output.
