What is TXT?
A TXT file contains characters only, with no formatting, images or page layout information. It opens in every program from Notepad to code editors and is the smallest and most portable kind of document. Whether accented and non-Latin characters display correctly depends on the character encoding; UTF-8, today's standard, handles virtually every language. Plain text is ideal for searching, archiving and moving content between systems.
What is UDF?
UDF is the document format of UYAP (Ulusal Yargı Ağı Bilişim Sistemi), Turkey's national judiciary information system. Lawyers, courts and enforcement offices create petitions, minutes and rulings in this format with the UYAP Document Editor. A .udf file is a ZIP package whose content.xml holds the full text, paragraph and character styles, tables and embedded images. It is unrelated to Universal Disk Format, and Word or PDF readers cannot open it directly.

What is a UDF file, and why does it look like a ZIP?
UDF is the document format of UYAP (Ulusal Yargı Ağı Projesi), Turkey's National Judiciary Informatics System. A .udf file is a ZIP package containing content.xml, which stores the text, paragraph styles, tables and images. Archive tools may therefore recognise it as a ZIP; you do not need to rename it.
Can I submit the converted UDF through UYAP straight away?
The file is produced in the UDF package structure, but we recommend opening it in the UYAP Document Editor and checking the text, paragraphs and layout before submitting. The converter does not add an electronic signature, so for official filings open the document in UYAP and sign it with your e-signature.
Is it better to format the text in Word first?
Yes, if you need headings, bold text, tables or numbered clauses. Plain text has no formatting, so it reaches UDF as plain paragraphs. Format the text in Word and use the Word to UDF converter instead, and that formatting information is included in the conversion.
