Resize Image Online

To resize an image, add your files, choose a method and enter the new size. You can set the width or height in pixels with the aspect ratio locked, scale by percentage, fit the image inside a box, fill an exact size by cropping, or pad it onto a canvas of a given size. Large images are scaled down in high-quality steps so they stay sharp, and everything runs in your browser.

  • Free, no sign-up
  • Your file never leaves your device
  • Up to 50 MB per file
Output format
Resize method

Enter a width or a height; while the ratio is locked the other value is calculated for you. Unlock it to set both freely, which stretches the image.

The selected format has no quality setting.

Your file never leaves your device; images are processed in your browser. EXIF and location data are not added to the output.

How to resize an image

  1. Add your images

Drag one or more images onto the upload area. The size of the first image is shown in the list.

  2. Pick a method and a size

Choose pixels, percent, fit, fill or padded, then enter the width and height; the output size is shown immediately.

  3. Resize and download

Press “Resize” and download the results one by one or as a ZIP.

What is preserved?

Kept

  • The aspect ratio while the lock is on
  • The original format by default
  • Colors (adapted to sRGB) and the correct photo orientation
  • Every frame and display time of an animated GIF

Changed

  • The pixel dimensions
  • The file size, which follows the new dimensions and the quality setting

Not carried over

  • EXIF, location and camera data: left out of the output for privacy

When to use it

Meet size requirements

Profile pictures, ID photos, product listings and ad banners ask for exact dimensions. The Fill and With padding methods give you the exact width and height without distorting the picture.

Make photos lighter for e-mail and websites

A 4000-pixel photo is usually far bigger than a screen needs. Resizing it to 1920 or 1280 pixels cuts the file size sharply.

Resize a whole batch

Add dozens of images at once, set the size one time and download everything as a ZIP.

Limitations to know

  • Up to 50 MB per file and 50 files at a time; the output can be at most 16,384 pixels on one side.
  • Enlarging an image cannot add detail that is not there; very large enlargements look soft.
  • Animated GIFs keep all their frames and display times when resized (up to 600 frames); animated WebP and AVIF files are reduced to their first frame, and animated WebP or AVIF output is not available.
  • On iPhone and iPad, images above roughly 16 megapixels may not be processed because of a browser limit.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize an image without distorting it?

Keep the lock icon on in Pixels mode: type a width or a height and the other value is calculated from the original aspect ratio. The Fit, Fill and With padding methods also keep the picture undistorted.

What is the difference between Fit, Fill and With padding?

Fit shrinks the image so it stays inside the box and keeps its ratio. Fill covers the whole target size and crops what overflows. With padding creates a canvas of the exact size and centers the image on it, filling the rest with a color or transparency.

Can I make an image bigger?

Yes, in any method, or tick “Do not enlarge smaller images” in Fit mode to prevent it. Enlarging cannot add real detail, so big enlargements look soft.

Does resizing reduce the quality?

Shrinking uses a high-quality resampling method and keeps the image sharp. If the output format is JPG, WebP or AVIF, the quality slider also affects the file size.

What are the maximum sizes?

50 MB per input file, and 16,384 pixels on one side of the output.

Is this tool free?

Yes, completely free. There is no account, subscription or watermark.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Images are processed in your browser and never leave your device. EXIF and location data are not added to the output.

Can I process several images at once?

Yes. You can add up to 50 files at a time and download the results one by one or as a single ZIP file.
