What is TXT?
A TXT file contains characters only, with no formatting, images or page layout information. It opens in every program from Notepad to code editors and is the smallest and most portable kind of document. Whether accented and non-Latin characters display correctly depends on the character encoding; UTF-8, today's standard, handles virtually every language. Plain text is ideal for searching, archiving and moving content between systems.
What is PDF?
PDF (Portable Document Format) is a fixed-layout document format created by Adobe and standardised as ISO 32000. Every piece of text, image and line is stored with its position on the page, so a PDF looks the same on every device and prints reliably. The trade-off is editing: a PDF stores positions on a page, not paragraphs and tables. Scanned PDFs contain only page images and need OCR before any text can be extracted.

Why are the columns in my log file misaligned in the PDF?
The PDF uses a proportional font, where letters have different widths, so columns aligned with spaces no longer line up exactly. If alignment matters, convert the text to Word first, switch to a monospace font such as Courier New, and save the document as PDF from there.
Is there a watermark or header on the PDF?
No. The PDF contains only your text: no watermark, logo, header or footer is added. Page numbers are not added either, so for a multi-page document that needs numbering, convert the text to Word first, insert page numbers and then export to PDF.
How can I get headings and bullet points in the PDF?
Plain text carries no formatting, so every line becomes a normal paragraph. Write the text in Markdown instead, using # for headings and - for list items, and use the Markdown to PDF converter, which renders them as real headings and bulleted lists. Alternatively, format the text in Word and export to PDF.
Is converting TXT to PDF free?
