WebP to JPG Converter
To convert WebP to JPG, add your WebP images, keep JPG selected and press Convert. The quality slider starts at 100%; transparent areas are filled with white unless you choose another color. The work is done in your browser, so your images are never uploaded.
- Free, no sign-up
- Your file never leaves your device
- Up to 50 MB per file
Your file never leaves your device; images are processed in your browser. EXIF and location data are not added to the output.
How to convert WebP to JPG
Add your WebP files
Drag the images onto the upload area or browse for them; you can add several files at once.
Keep JPG as the output
JPG is already selected. For formats with a quality setting the slider starts at 100%; lower it if you want a smaller file.
Convert and download
Press “Convert”. Every file is processed in your browser, and you can download the results one by one or as a ZIP.
What is preserved?
Kept
- The image resolution (pixel dimensions)
- The correct photo orientation (EXIF orientation is applied)
- Colors (adapted to sRGB)
Changed
- JPG is a lossy format: lower quality means a smaller file but less fine detail
Not carried over
- Transparency: JPG does not support it, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you pick (white by default)
- EXIF, location and camera data: left out of the output for privacy
- Motion: only the first frame is converted
When to use it
Share a picture everyone can open
JPG opens in practically every app, e-mail client and device. Converting a WebP you downloaded or received makes sure the recipient can view it without extra software.
Submit to a site that rejects WebP
Job portals, government forms and some stores accept only JPG. Converting your WebP picture lets you upload it without re-taking or re-exporting it.
Limitations to know
- For animated WebP files only the first frame is converted.
- Up to 50 MB per file; the output can be at most 16,384 pixels on one side.
- On iPhone and iPad, images above roughly 16 megapixels may not be processed because of a browser limit.
About the formats
What is WebP?
WebP is an image format developed by Google for the web. It supports both lossy and lossless compression, transparency and animation, and typically produces smaller files than JPG or PNG at similar quality. All current browsers display WebP, though some older editors and print services cannot open it.
What is JPG?
JPG (JPEG) is the most widely used photo format. It uses lossy compression: detail the eye notices least is discarded to make files small, and the quality setting trades size against detail. JPG does not support transparency and is not ideal for text or sharp-edged graphics, but nearly every device, app and website opens it.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to transparent areas?
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent pixels become a solid color. White is used by default, and the background color picker lets you choose another one.
Will the quality drop when I convert WebP to JPG?
Both formats are lossy, so converting recompresses the image once more. Keeping the quality at 90–100% keeps the difference hard to see, at the cost of a larger file.
Can I convert a whole folder of WebP files?
You can add up to 50 files at a time. Each file is converted separately, and the results can be downloaded together as one ZIP.
Does this keep animated WebP images moving?
No. JPG has no animation, so only the first frame of an animated WebP is converted.
Is converting WebP to JPG free?
Yes, completely free. There is no account, subscription or watermark; just add your files and convert them.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Images are processed in your browser and never leave your device, so the waiting time depends on the file size and your device. EXIF and location data are not added to the output.
