What is preserved?

Kept

  • How each page looks: text, graphics and images are drawn as in a PDF viewer
  • The page proportions; the pixel size depends on the DPI you choose

Changed

  • Each page becomes a flat JPG picture at the DPI you choose: 72 for screens, 150 as a balance, 300 for print
  • Several pages are delivered together as a ZIP file (page-01, page-02 …); a single page comes back as one image
  • JPG is lossy: lower quality makes smaller files with less fine detail

Not carried over

  • Selectable and searchable text: the pages become pictures
  • Links, form fields, bookmarks and other interactive parts
  • Transparency: pages are drawn on white

When to use it

Use a PDF page as a picture

Put a page of a brochure, a certificate or a presentation into a social media post, a document or a website, where a PDF cannot be used directly.

Share one page of a long document

Convert only the pages you need, for example 3-5, and send them as images instead of the whole PDF.

Limitations to know

  • Up to 50 MB per PDF and up to 50 pages at a time; choose a page range for longer documents.
  • Password-protected and damaged PDFs cannot be converted.
  • A page larger than about 100 megapixels at the chosen DPI is refused; pick a lower DPI.
  • The PDF is uploaded to our servers and deleted within 30 minutes.

About the formats

What is PDF?

PDF is a document format that looks the same on every device and in print. A page can contain text, vector graphics and images, and a file can have many pages. Converting PDF pages to images turns each page into a flat picture you can place on a website or in a design, while converting images to PDF packs pictures into pages of one document.

What is JPG?

JPG (JPEG) is the most widely used photo format. It uses lossy compression: detail the eye notices least is discarded to make files small, and the quality setting trades size against detail. JPG does not support transparency and is not ideal for text or sharp-edged graphics, but nearly every device, app and website opens it.

Frequently asked questions

Which resolution should I choose?

72 DPI is enough for viewing on screen, 150 DPI is a balanced default for sharing, and 300 DPI gives print quality but much larger files. The pixel size of a page is its size in inches multiplied by the DPI.

How do I convert only some pages?

Type the pages in the field, for example 1-3,5 for pages one to three and five, 2- for page two to the end, or -4 for the first four pages. You can convert up to 50 pages at a time.

Is the text still selectable in the JPG?

No. Each page becomes a flat picture, so text can no longer be selected or searched. If you need the text, keep the PDF or copy it before converting.

Can I convert a password-protected PDF?

No. Encrypted PDFs cannot be read by the converter; remove the password in your PDF program first and then upload the file again.

Is converting PDF to JPG free?

Yes, completely free. There is no account, subscription or watermark; just add your files and convert them.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

Yes. This conversion runs on our servers, so your PDF is uploaded over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, converted there and permanently deleted within 30 minutes at the latest. It is stored under a random code instead of its name, and processing is fully automated. EXIF and location data are not added to the output.
