SVG to BMP Converter
To convert SVG to BMP, add your SVG files, set an output width or leave it empty, and press Convert. The drawing is rendered to pixels in your browser and saved as an uncompressed bitmap. BMP has no transparency, so the empty parts of the SVG are filled with white or a background color you pick. There is no quality setting, and the SVG never leaves your device.
- Free, no sign-up
- Your file never leaves your device
- Up to 50 MB per file
BMP is uncompressed, so there is no quality setting.
Your file never leaves your device; images are processed in your browser. EXIF and location data are not added to the output.
How to convert SVG to BMP
Add your SVG files
Drag the images onto the upload area or browse for them; you can add several files at once.
Keep BMP as the output
BMP is already selected. For formats with a quality setting the slider starts at a default that suits the format (JPG 90%, WebP 80%, AVIF 60%); lower it if you want a smaller file.
Convert and download
Press “Convert”. Every file is processed in your browser, and you can download the results one by one or as a ZIP.
What is preserved?
Kept
- The image resolution (pixel dimensions)
- The correct photo orientation (EXIF orientation is applied)
- Colors (adapted to sRGB)
Changed
- The vector drawing becomes pixels; the output is fixed at the chosen size
Not carried over
- Transparency: BMP does not support it, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you pick (white by default)
- EXIF, location and camera data: left out of the output for privacy
- Infinite scalability: the raster output turns pixelated when enlarged
When to use it
Artwork for engraving and embroidery machines
Some laser engravers, embroidery machines and sign cutters import only bitmaps. Rendering the SVG to BMP at the machine's working resolution gives them a usable file.
Images for legacy Windows applications
Old programs that predate SVG can often load BMP. A rendered bitmap lets you use vector artwork there without installing anything.
Limitations to know
- External images and fonts referenced by the SVG are not loaded; text may be drawn with a system font.
- Up to 50 MB per file; the output can be at most 16,384 pixels on one side.
- On iPhone and iPad, images above roughly 16 megapixels may not be processed because of a browser limit.
About the formats
What is SVG?
SVG describes an image with shapes, paths and text in XML instead of pixels, so it stays sharp at any size. It is ideal for logos, icons and illustrations. When a program or website needs a pixel image, an SVG is rendered into a raster format such as PNG at a chosen size.
What is BMP?
BMP is a bitmap format that stores pixels with little or no compression, so files are large. It is simple and widely supported by Windows software but rarely used on the web; PNG gives the same pixel-exact result in a much smaller file.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose the width for a machine?
Multiply the physical width in inches by the machine's resolution. For a 4 inch engraving at 254 DPI, for example, enter about 1016 pixels.
Why is my SVG's background white in the BMP?
BMP cannot store see-through pixels, so the transparent canvas around the drawing is filled with the background color, white unless you change it.
Are fonts from my SVG rendered?
Fonts installed or embedded in the SVG can be used, but fonts linked from outside files or websites are not loaded. Convert text to outlines for reliable results.
Is converting SVG to BMP free?
Yes, completely free. There is no account, subscription or watermark; just add your files and convert them.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Images are processed in your browser and never leave your device, so the waiting time depends on the file size and your device. EXIF and location data are not added to the output.
