Convert Markdown to HTML

To convert Markdown to HTML, upload your .md file and choose HTML. The output is not just a fragment but a complete HTML document with a UTF-8 charset and a small embedded stylesheet for tables, code blocks and blockquotes. GitHub-flavoured tables, footnotes, task lists, auto-generated heading IDs and autolinks are supported, and image references are kept as img tags.

How to convert Markdown to HTML

  1. Upload your Markdown file

Drag your Markdown file onto the upload area or browse for it (up to 100 MB).

  2. Keep HTML as the target

HTML is already selected in the menu; you can pick another format if you need one.

  3. Convert and download

Press “Convert” and the download of the converted file starts automatically.

What is preserved?

Kept

  • Headings, with auto-generated IDs for anchors
  • Tables, footnotes and nested lists
  • Code blocks and blockquotes
  • Links and image references (img tags)

Changed

  • Task-list checkboxes become ☑ and ☐ characters, not form inputs
  • The document language tag is set to Turkish (lang="tr")

When to use it

Publishing on a website or CMS

Paste an article or documentation page written in Markdown into a content management system that lacks Markdown support, or publish the file as a static page on your own server with no build step.

Sharing formatted notes

Send your notes to someone without a Markdown viewer: a single .html file opens formatted in any browser, with tables and code blocks intact, and the recipient does not need to install anything.

Limitations to know

  • Images with relative paths only show up if the image files sit next to the HTML file.
  • Mermaid diagrams and math are not rendered; add the relevant JavaScript library to your page for that.

About the formats

What is Markdown (MD)?

Markdown is a lightweight markup language designed by John Gruber in 2004. Formatting is written as simple symbols inside plain text: # for headings, ** for bold, - for list items and | for tables. Markdown (.md) files are everywhere in GitHub READMEs, technical documentation, note-taking apps and AI assistant output. The most widely used flavour is GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM), which adds tables, task lists and strikethrough.

What is HTML?

HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the markup language web pages are written in. Headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, links and images are defined with tags, and CSS controls how they look. An .html file opens in any web browser without extra software and reflows to the screen width instead of using fixed pages. External stylesheets, web fonts and remote images are separate resources and do not travel with the file unless they are embedded in it.

Frequently asked questions

Is the output a full HTML page or just a fragment?

It is a full HTML5 document: a doctype, UTF-8 charset, mobile viewport tag, a title taken from the file name and a small embedded stylesheet for tables, code blocks and blockquotes. It opens directly in a browser. If you only need the content, copy what is inside the body element.

Will my Markdown images show up in the HTML?

Image references are kept as img tags exactly as written; the images themselves are not downloaded or embedded. Images with web addresses load when the page is opened, while relative paths such as ./image.png only work if the image file is in the same folder as the HTML file.

Can I convert the HTML back into Markdown?

Yes. The HTML to Markdown converter turns the file back into a .md file: headings, lists, tables, links and code blocks become Markdown syntax again. The embedded stylesheet, fonts and colours are dropped because Markdown has no equivalent for them.

Is converting Markdown to HTML free?

Yes, completely free. There is no account, subscription or watermark — just upload your file and convert it.

Is my file safe and when is it deleted?

Your file is transferred over HTTPS and stored on our server under a random code. The upload and the output are permanently deleted within 30 minutes, and the download link only works for whoever holds your unique code.
