What is preserved?
Kept
- How each page looks: text, graphics and images are drawn as in a PDF viewer
- The page proportions; the pixel size depends on the DPI you choose
Changed
- Each page becomes a flat HEIC picture at the DPI you choose: 72 for screens, 150 as a balance, 300 for print
- Several pages are delivered together as a ZIP file (page-01, page-02 …); a single page comes back as one image
- HEIC is lossy: lower quality makes smaller files with less fine detail
Not carried over
- Selectable and searchable text: the pages become pictures
- Links, form fields, bookmarks and other interactive parts
- Transparency: pages are drawn on white
When to use it
Keep document pages in Apple Photos
Tickets, recipes or presentation slides saved as HEIC images are always at hand in the Photos app on an iPhone.
Small page images to share
HEIC pages are much smaller than PNG pages, which helps when sending many pages between Apple devices.

About the formats
What is PDF?
PDF is a document format that looks the same on every device and in print. A page can contain text, vector graphics and images, and a file can have many pages. Converting PDF pages to images turns each page into a flat picture you can place on a website or in a design, while converting images to PDF packs pictures into pages of one document.
What is HEIC?
HEIC (also called HEIF) is the photo format that iPhones and many recent cameras use by default. It stores photos in about half the space of a JPG at similar quality and supports transparency and several images in one file. Web browsers and many programs cannot open it, which is why HEIC photos are usually converted to JPG, PNG or WebP before they are shared.
Frequently asked questions
Which DPI should I choose for PDF to HEIC?
150 DPI is enough to read a page on a phone. Choose 300 DPI for small print or when you want to zoom in on details.
How many pages can I convert at once?
Up to 50 pages per run, from a PDF of up to 200 MB. For longer documents, convert them in parts by entering page ranges such as 1-50 and 51-100.
Can I still search the text in the HEIC pages?
No. Each page becomes a picture, so its text can no longer be selected or searched. Password-protected PDFs cannot be converted.
Is converting PDF to HEIC free?
Yes, completely free. There is no account, subscription or watermark; just add your files and convert them.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
Yes. This conversion runs on our servers, so your PDF is uploaded over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, converted there and deleted as soon as the conversion finishes; the result is permanently deleted within 5 minutes after you download it, or 10 minutes after the conversion finishes if you never download it. Files are saved under a random code instead of their name, and processing is fully automated. EXIF and location data are not added to the output.
