PNG to TIFF Converter

To convert PNG to TIFF, add your PNG files, choose TIFF and press Convert. Both formats are lossless, so every pixel is copied exactly and there is no quality setting. Transparent areas stay transparent because the TIFF gets an alpha channel. The result is a single-page RGB TIFF with lossless compression. The conversion runs in your browser, so your images never leave your device.

  • Free, no sign-up
  • Your file never leaves your device
  • Up to 200 MB per file
Output format

The selected format has no quality setting.

Your file never leaves your device; images are processed in your browser. EXIF and location data are not added to the output.

How to convert PNG to TIFF

  1. Add your PNG files

Drag the images onto the upload area or browse for them; you can add several files at once.

  2. Keep TIFF as the output

TIFF is already selected. For formats with a quality setting the slider starts at a default that suits the format (JPG 90%, WebP 80%, AVIF 60%); lower it if you want a smaller file.

  3. Convert and download

Press “Convert”. Every file is processed in your browser, and you can download the results one by one or as a ZIP.

What is preserved?

Kept

  • The image resolution (pixel dimensions)
  • The correct photo orientation (EXIF orientation is applied)
  • Colors (adapted to sRGB)
  • Transparency (alpha channel)

Not carried over

  • EXIF, location and camera data: left out of the output for privacy

When to use it

Logos and graphics for layout software

Desktop publishing and prepress tools often prefer TIFF for placed images. A PNG logo converted to TIFF keeps its sharp edges and transparent background.

Systems that only accept TIFF

Some document management, archiving and upload portals take TIFF only. Converting the PNG lets you submit the same image without any loss.

Limitations to know

  • Up to 200 MB per file; the output can be at most 16,384 pixels on one side.
  • On iPhone and iPad, images above roughly 16 megapixels may not be processed because of a browser limit.

About the formats

What is PNG?

PNG stores pixels without loss and supports full transparency, which makes it a good fit for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges or text. The price is size: photographs saved as PNG are usually much larger than the same picture as JPG or WebP. PNG does not store animations.

What is TIFF?

TIFF is a high-quality image format used for scans, professional photography and printing. It typically stores pixels without lossy compression and can hold high color depth and several pages in one file, so files are very large. Web browsers do not display TIFF, so it is converted to JPG or PNG for sharing and publishing.

Frequently asked questions

Is the transparent background kept in the TIFF?

Yes. The TIFF is written with an alpha channel, so transparent and semi-transparent pixels look the same as in the PNG in programs that read TIFF transparency.

Is any detail lost from PNG to TIFF?

No. Both formats store pixels without loss, so the colors and edges are identical; only the file container changes.

Will the TIFF be larger than the PNG?

Often it is somewhat larger. PNG's compression is usually more efficient for flat graphics, although the TIFF is also compressed losslessly.

Is converting PNG to TIFF free?

Yes, completely free. There is no account, subscription or watermark; just add your files and convert them.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Images are processed in your browser and never leave your device, so the waiting time depends on the file size and your device. EXIF and location data are not added to the output.
